I have seen 66' Belvederes with gray-white "splatter paint" in the trunk. Did any come from the factory this way? Mark

I think some did,I just brought home an all original 4 door belvedere parts car and it has splatter paint. There is no indication of any body colour paint on the trunk floor anywhere.

FYI, That is one of the most difficult paints to make a correct OEM match to that I've ever seen. The splatter paint that comes in rattle cans isn't even close.

Maybe Zolatone paints? I believe that is what Moser's uses on their restos. I think you can get a custom mix of you don't like their standard color palette.

My 66 Had original paint in the trunk before I restored it...no splatter, just body color. Does a the build date have anything to do with it? My car was built 3-10-66

we noticed this on c-bodies a while back.
The concensus was it was based on plant, but we never dug much further on it to be sure.

I'm not sure but it seems to me the cars built after 1-1-66 were body color.
