I have a stock 74 Duster grille that has a lot of paint peeling and fading. I'd like to take it apart and paint the main grille section with the factory finish and color, or relatively close to it. This is a driver, not a show car so it doesn't have to be a prize winning paint job, but it does need to look decent and be durable as the grille gets a lot of abuse while driving. Are there any good spray can products out there that are adequate? What's the best primer or adhesion promoter to use on plastic?

SEM trim black

I used rustolyum satin black on most of my duster grills

Thanks, but the grille is silver. Not a textured argent silver but a smooth silver.

If you're just looking to freshen up a driver I'd look at Krylon Dull Aluminum paint. If you are doing a full blown restore I don't know what it would be.

Freshening up a driver is exactly what I am doing. Have you used the Krylon dull aluminum on plastic? Does it adhere and last well? Thanks

I repainted my grille on my Demon and used Rustoleum metallic silver. The metallic doesn't show up hardly at all,and it matched the OEM silver on the rest of the grille.

I purchased 5 or 6 different cans of silver and aluminum paint till I found a dead on match.

It is a smooth finish, not textured.

The final choice of paint was a large can of Duplicolor silver from Bennys, I'll try to dig up the part number if you really need it.
