Used the POR15 kit in my 65.That was probally 15 years ago.I had a small hole that I soldered and then sealed the tank.It was nasty inside also as the gas was 10 years old and clumped out.I just followed the instructions and let it sit in the 80 degree sun for a few days after I sealed it.Looked better than new.Still there and no problems. My kid had his work car stolen.they punched a hole to drain the gas in the bottom.I cleaned it JB weld and a flat screw.Let it dry then a thin piece of sheet metal and more JB weld. Its been on there for 2 years and still dry.Rocky

Just don't use the older orange colored tank sealers, they get dissolved by the alcohol in modern gasoline.

The POR15 kit is made just for tanks. When I bought mine it was around 30 bucks. You do have to follow the directios.Tanks werent avaliable when I did mine. That and 30 bucks was cheap.Rocky

the POR-15 kit is great. I have used it on four gas and diesel tanks and never had a problem with it coming off or dissolving, or any rust ever again. Two of them I did over 10 years ago and they're still perfect inside. It is absolutely mandatory that you follow the instructions to the letter - especially the part about the tank being BONE DRY inside after cleaning. You can't do the whole job in a morning. I duct-tape an old hair dryer to the filler neck and let it blow on low heat for half a day.

Like I said I let mine sit in the 80 to 90 degree sun for like 3 days so I knew it would be dry. Then I let the sealer do the same thing. It works well if you follow the directions.Rocky

Another vote for the POR 15 kit, it is great. Not at all like there regular paint, it seams much more aggressive. 3 years now, '75 Vega tank found in junkyard, welded small hole at seam, then used the kit. Still looks like I just did it inside, and it still runs great. And no puddles underneath!
