Eastwood manifold dressing or Factory Gray or Stainless steel? Spray or brush on?

Have a set of 340 manifolds that have been sandblasted and ready to go, what do you use for a durable coating?

Pictures welcome!

Eastwood is good, but powdercoat is the way to go! Lasts WAY longer.............

You want a ceramic not powder...I have yet to see a powder that will stand up to the extreme heat on a exhaust.

Look into Techline coatings. Good stuff you can air dry and then cure on the car.

"Turbo will be easiest, and at the HP level will also be easiest on parts. Spend the money to do it right, and you can build a 500 HP street motor that will live a long and happy life, and probably with a very basic short block." Those words must have left a bad taste in his mouth!

Brush or spray?

I have to place an order with Eastwood, hence the reason I'm looking at Eastwood exhaust coating products.

I used the eastwood stuff - brushed on with a foam brush. It has held up very well. Metal prep is the key IMO. I painted mine within hours of media blasting.

You are correct, that is what I meant! Costs more, but is well worth it. I have mine done locally for about $120.00 and the color is perfect.

Ordered yesterday, after doing some searching it is very highly regarded.

At worst I'll have to pull the manifolds in the future, reblast and try something else.

Be careful with the Calyx dressing. I used that at one point and yes it did look fantastic but don't brush up against it with any clothing or you will ruin your clothes or whatever it touches as it never fully dries. Ive also had rust come through the Calyx also.

I used the Eastwood brush on and got streaks so I ordered a can of spray and finished with a couple of light coats. They turned out great. I did blast them prior to painting. You can see the streaks before I sprayed.

Eastwood. I had a fire that burned up the front end on my 72 duster back in 1992 (after having it done for the summer by the way!). They looked like I had just done them. Everything else was toast but they weren't. I used a foam brush too with light coats. Also make sure that your bare fingers don't touch the metal before you apply the paint and after it is dired too. I used rubber gloves. The oil in your fingers comes off and then it wont stick and after it is done you see finger marks in it. Learned that on dad's 69 satellite. Others might not of had that problem but we did so we CYA'ed ourselves with mine.

I bought Bill Hirsch Products exhaust paint. I blasted the manifolds and cleaned them 3 times with MEK, then scrubbed with soapy water until they were spotless. Brushed it on with foam brush, and the look great. I havent installed them yest, but others who have, have been very pleased with the longevity of this product.

If memory serves me correct, some years back I put on Eastwood or something similiar and after applying I baked manifolds in an oven for 20 minutes at about 450 degrees. Then perhaps reapplied, but I dont remember.

Eastwood cast gray manifold paint works very well. Blasted mine cleaned them off with solvent brushed on the Eastwood. All the streaks went away as they dried. Bolted them on fired it up let it get warm shut it down a couple of times to cure the paint. Been 4 years they still look great.
