What's the easiest way to disable a MP electronic Conversion kit to run a FireCore Dist that does need need an ECU or Ballast resistor?

Easiest way, Unplug the control module and ballast resister and wire in the new ignition system accordingly.

Take off the ECU/ballast and their attending wiring/pentastar connector to clean up the eng bay then run switched 12V & start 12V to the dist as required and if it's the type where you run both above circuits together to feed it that'll be one less wire and a even simpler/cleaner setup

assuming this is what you meant and you are doing this on the 68 dart...

Like Marc and Robert mentioned cut the two wires (dark blue with white tracer and the Brown wire) leading to the resistor splice together and use as your power (or ignition on) for the new distributor. Everything from the resistor forward can go in the trash.

The dark blue with white tracer and the Brown wire come out of the middle bulkhead fitting.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Thanks for the tips guy's.

It is a show car. So I have the leave the ECU & ballast attached or I have 3 sheet metal holes.

One more problem. the dist has 3 wires. + coil, - Coil and ground. In other words, how do I get power to the coil?

Now what?

I do not have a diagram of the RTR FireCore Distributor but this should help you out. Just put all of the wires onto one side of the resistor and wire like below...

Thank You Allen, Marc & Robert for helping me out. I am still confused (3rd shift) can do this to you.

My wiring for the distributor is the same as yours in the pic.

Still confused

So I splice The dark blue with white tracer and the Brown wire together, after I pull them off the resistor and route them to + coil. Nothing else?

I need to get started Sunday!

I am trying to dig up a picture of the engine.

then find a ground (black wire in the diagram) for the distributer

It is not that hard if you look at it one wire at a time. Yes, it is as simple as it looks. Before...

I'm not sure if you have a wire from the resistor to the voltage regulator But if you do make sure it is spliced into this as well.

After...

Hi Allen, It appears some of the wiring is not OEM. This is the RUN or "hot" wire off the ballast. Red is ground which I can delete. Also my aftermarket tach is not hooked out to - coil? It works. The purple went to + coil.

I bought the car like this.

Thanks for helping me out. I got it wired. Gun-Shy about turning the key for fear of frying the whole harness.

The red wire is grounded and spiced into the purple, Blue/green, cluster? I don't see how it could run if it was grounded.

And this cluster was connected to the other end of the resister right?

The other thing I just thought of if you want the resister to stay there is just to put a jumper wire from one end of the resistor to the other leaving the wires as they are.

I heard of guys gutting the resister on the other side so you cannot see the wire connecting the two.

I think on your distributor there is another wire that one goes to your after-market tach.
