I just picked up a thumbwheel radio which I thought was for a '67-'69 E body. There are no Mopar markings on it, but there is a label saying it was made by "Automatic Radio" of Melrose, MA. Does anyone know anything about these. I Googled it and there is some mention that these were installed by dealers?

I think I found the answer in a post about 50's Mopar record players:
"I think ARC stands for Automatic Radio Corporation. They made tons of aftermarket factory look radios for people who bought a car without a radio and later decided they needed one.
I used to have an ARC version of the 1958 Plymouth radio...it looked nearly identical right down to the bezel, but the knobs were slightly different and it was stamped ARC (Automatic Radio Corporation) on the back."

Those were over the counter radios which were built to look close to factory radios. Pretty much junk as far as value.

There were (2) suppliers of clone AM radios. Automatic Radio and Tenna Corp., I used to work for a car audio distributor in SoCal. They sold to Ralph Williams, Cal Worthington..
AM radios for $32 including antenna.
The dealers would buy the cars as radio delete and install the clones saving $30 a car..
They looked just a factory radio...

Just my $0.01..

My first radio "upgrade" () was an under-the-dash AR 8-track player.
They were even cheaper than the Sparkomatic radios.

Don't wanna hijack this thread but is my radio an aftermarket radio or original Chrysler radio (doesn't say chrysler solid state on the bezel)? For which car is it supposed to be?

Somebody told me 67,68 C-body...
