I am supposed to be going to indianopolis next weekend to meet Kent Ritter and pick up my XR P7 block. Was wondering what there is to do there on a weekend while there? Any local guys know of sites to see are good bars to visit? Thanks Brian W.
Go see the speedway and then go by raceway park on your way to Brownsberg to see all the race team shops there. There's a cool performance hardware speed shop near the track that's I've got some cool stuff from over the years.
Was just in Indy 2 weeks ago, we stayed downtown at the Westin for a long weekend for a convention. I like there downtown and skywalks. Had a killer steak at Don Shula's steak house, I think it's a 5 star resturant. There's a horse race track and casino on the east side at the 109 exit on I-74.

Next weekend is the Meacum Auto Auction in Indy, similar to Barret Jackson. There are lots of free tickets floating around.
There is also the NHRA Div.3 "make up" race Fri and Sat at ORP from the rain out a few weeks ago. There were 4 of the new Hemi super stock challengers there at the rain out last time that will likely return. Also had a full group of Alcohol Funny cars!
You can drop by ProMax Carbs and Performance parts on Friday and say Hi! There is also usually someone there on Saturdays running motors on the dyno (call first). I would say you could go to Indy Cylinder head, but as a general rule they aren't the friendliest group and aren't open on Sat.
There is a decent night life downtown on the weekend, with live bands and even a decent Blues bar.
The Indy 500 Track has a cool museum and track tour, but with the up coming race I don't know if they are open that weekend.
I will be working the race at ORP for the NHRA race, but usually hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings in Speedway in the evening.
There is a go-cart track on the west side at 38th and 465 if the weather is nice.
Might check with some of the guys from the Indy Mopar club to see if they have an event that weekend.

Went there for the Classic Race in 05 and had a blast! Definetly check out the 500 track and museum and the Drag Strip a few miles away so much history between the two!

I understand a restaurant named “The Iron Skillet” is still open. Is it still good? We used to eat there a long time ago when we were in Indy. It was great food served family style. Bill
Food is still very good and plenty of it.
