I got one of those Aluminum Masters with Plastic caps and it is leaking/seeping out of the caps. Anyone have this problem and find a fix for it. I already got some paint problems from it, no to happy with this.

yeah I was driving it yesterday. Ho full is full? I got it just below the tubes that stick out the top. The caps are tight, I pulled them off and they look warped?

Ahh now they're leakin. Same issue with the master cylinder i bought of a member here. WE aren't the only ones either

I went to the junkyard and 'got' two factory master cylinder caps off cars. No leaks since. I tried everything with the caps that came with that master, couldn't get it to work. The factory caps seem to be holding up thus far...

Thanks goody, Are the new caps plastic as well? Any idea which vehicles got them so I can call around?

Tom

Yeah I got nice bubbles forming on the frame rail right below the M/C from fluid. I knew I should have gone DOT 5...

yes i have the same problem mine seep around the lids. also bought it on here. and another one of my buddies also bought it here and his leaks. i use Dot 5 so no worry about paint. but it sucks that they all leak. at least all the ones that i know of. seems to work ok.

Just about every mopar from 1979 to early 90's will have them.

Thanks goody, I'll see what I can dig up. At least I have some paint left over. Looks like bunch of wrinkly pimples...

Sometimes you have to file down the parting line under the caps on top of the tank.

You might also want to pick up a M/C Heat Shield that sits underneath the reservoir as a catch for the brake fluid that leaks out. I have that on my rides and it prevents damage to the engine bay paint. I will try the filling tip from Dr Diff on mine....

Thanks

Yes, the ridge runs runs along the top, under the twist-on caps.

im not sure it'd 'hold' fluid well if you had to brake hard. But you definately gotta fix the cap issue first!

That is a loaded question. I got it from a vendor here but it wasn't anyone that replied in this thread.
I picked up a couple "replacement caps" from the parts store to try. At least they are round. If this don't work I'll do the filing. Doesn't look like here is much to file to me?

Tom

I think the wife would be pissed on Thanksgiving.LOL

I got a master from a vender on this board also, and no matter what I told him it was my fault,
your over filling it, your stopping to fast.

I went to the junk yard and got a Reservoir and caps off of a dodge van. no more leak... it was 5 bucks with caps
