Check where the dash wiring harness goes through the firewall and connects to the engine harness. I drove around for months raising my hood, using a screwdriver to trip the starter. One day the thought just entered my head to push in on the plug (it seemed to sag just a bit) and the next time I hit the key.....vroom! worth a shot!

just trying to get my barracuda going! It's MOPAR, or it's subpar!!!

Maybe you should troubleshoot it instead of throwing parts at it. The NSS grounds the starter relay. Not sure on a 64 but the thin guage brown wire at the relay should be grounded in p or n and the yellow wire is from the ignition switch should have power when you crank it. Sometimes the connection on the nss has issues. You could just ground the terminal on the starter relay but be careful of the car starting in any gear.

I used the wrong term instead of solonoid,I meant relay.Does someone have a picture of one from 64?I looked and still don't see a wire anywhere on the car for the nss. What would be the correct color of the wire?

IIRC, there's a difference between NSS on 68 and prior autos VS 69 and later. Not sure if this is what is affecting you or not, but it may be. In the early ones there was only one wire to contend with, as the NSS was only that. In 69 the NSS and backup light switch were contained as a unit. The "comb" on the valvebody changed accordingly. Not saying this is your problem, but while we're throwing options out...

Then maybe I could define which of the three prongs is the nss and make a wire to fit just that?Or just get the late model pig tail and figure out how to incorporate it into the existing wiring.I should just get the pb trans built and get it the way it should be.MORE MONEY!!

The center terminal is the start ground. The two outside terminals are back up lights in and out. Just run a wire from the nss to the ground terminal on the relay.
