Is this a used set you are installing in your case, or a new set? What was the backlash? Looks to me like not enough shim... (pinion not back far enough.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

What was the backlash before you started? If you just upgraded the carrier then you don't disturb the pinion... I've nevet had issues doing that. The depth should not have changed. Just get the backlash where it was when you started and you should have been good to go.

Thats real high. looks to me the pinion needs to be moved closer to the ring gear.

Reason I ask is are you confident in the carrier bearings? Hindsight stinks but first thing wrong was you never, ever take it apart without running a patterns and taking measurements for the backlash. You have to know where you're starting from to know how to put it back. For now, with used gears, you may be better off setting up on the coast side and getting the best pattern you can. It takes very little to make gears noisey permanently.
