why would you want to
2 reasons, 1. to pull the tire in just a bit more (not critical though).
2. to use the shorter 2" drive studs which i have instead of the 3" and a long spacers. (also not critical).

You are talking 1/2 thick where they go over the studs? Thats very thick.
Yes,
this brake kit is for big ford housing ends.
As said you could call wilwood and ask. I dont think taking .125 off the face would hurt or compromise the rotors strength.

You are correct, those hats are for Ford 8"and 9" and are actually .630 thick including the champher.I still would be hesitant to cut them, especially if your using stock studs that pertrude through axle flange.

I also have the thick Willwood hats. Look around to see who makes a steel hub. They should be much thinner. You will have to figure out the difference in rotor placement to fit the caliper and adjust, but maybe with some luck, a set of hubs, and maybe rotors, you can gain 3/8 to 1/2 inch. I was considering it if I redo my chassis for more tire.

I have two sets of Wilwood hats I bought and couldn`t use for an 8 3/4, one set is machined and one isn`t they are also drilled for 5/8 studs. If anybody needs them or wants to try them let me know as I have no use for them.
