I know this option has not been made popular, but we mounted our transbrake button right beside the shifter. We got tired of the cord rapping around the steering wheel. Reaction times are still consistent as well.

I use a throttle position switch to release my brake and I set it with a relay loop activated by a toggle with start . I set it by pushing the start on the toggle and pull up on the brake, part throttle . when I mat the throttle away it goes. leaves my hands free to drive.

Not very clever but its done well for me... heres a couple of pics... you will notice that the button is below the steering wheel surface just so I cant bump it while in low gear

I can say that wouldnt be for me... I dont like the idea of pulling the trigger so I would have to be barely touching it and would be afraid of firing it JMO

I don't like having a cord wrap around the steering wheel, so I mounted my microswitch button to my Cheetah shifter. Since I (usually) use a Co2 shifter it is completely out of my way once I release it.
When I bottom bulb race I use a plunger type button that requires more force than I want to apply to the shifter. The clever way would be to weld a bracket to the floor for it to mount to. The crude way (my way) is to mount it to the steering wheel, but I have a sturdy electrical connector in the cable. After a pass while slowing in the shut down area, I just unplug the cord. Then when I turn off there is no cord to wrap around the wheel.

ill mention this... i like to use either a slide my finger sideways off the button to let it snap..to activate or use a snatching motion pulling finger/hand away from button with bicept muscle. snatching your hand towards your face..is a proven fast reaction... lifting your finger with finger/hand muscles is lazy IMHO. so is lifting just your finger...with your rist muscles... ive seen alot of switches mounted where your rist has to be bent to access it.. this just doesnt seem fast or consistant enough for me.. currently mine is on the dash just to the right of where your hand might reach to turn the ignition key.. i like this...although i have contemplated making a braket to make it about 6" off the dash.. (6" closer to my body) to activate it i just snatch my hand off...then set it down on the shifter ..to prepair for 2nd gear.. the same muscles you would use to put food towards your mouth... fwiw...thats my logic....? the steering wheel location is decent ..but like everyone else i dont want to mess with the cord. cheapst

that would be impossible as if it was hooked to the horn switch and was on wrong side (horn side) you could tell tell when you was backing up (bump to netural and het the t brack and it will back up) dont know many racers that actually put the shifter into reverse if they have a trans brake
