Hi, I just bought a replacement door and now need to remove the VIN label from the original and re-install on the replacement.

That can't be done, it's designed to destroy itself if you peel it off. However you can get new repro ones with your vin printed.

Not really likely. Somebody may have a trick to do it, but those decals were made to not come off in tact. You'd probably be better off contacting ECS for a replacement sticker.

Yes, that what I think as well. I hate loosing the original but the original door was so badly smashed, I had no choice. Thanks for the reply.

Contact Dave at ECS, he is an expert at removing decals intact. You won't be able to reuse your old one, but you will be able to save it for your historical record. Make sure you take a few closeup pictures of your decal before trying to remove it. Dave can use the pictures or a scanned image to accurately reproduce a replacement.

Thanks, I called there after 72ralley mentioned thier name. The guy I talked to gave me a price of $60 plus 6 for shipping, which is less than the site advertises. I will call back and ask for Dave, it is importmant to me to retain the original as good as possible. Thanks, again.

I was able to remove mine in mostly one piece, I just wanted to have the original for documentation of the car. Just used a razor blade and slowly cut away the paint from below the sticker. Tedious yes, but effective.

You should be able to remove it with a sharp blade and a heat gun. I would start with low heat.

The original had a built in anti-tamper device to prevent it's removal and re-installation on another car. The word "VOID" will appear when you try to peel it off.

Piece of cake. Just watch the original Gone in 60 Seconds, they show you how.
