you might want to check for spark.

yes & if no go might pull 1 plug real quick to see if you need to pull/dry them. only push the pedal to the floor once as the AP shot is going to aggravate this and on an eddy I take off the AP link as it's easy to do

You dont say how it got flooded, make sure the floats aren't stuck adding more fuel to the problem as your cranking. Holleys are easy to check, pull the sight plug and if a lot of fuel runs out the float may need to be adjusted. Remember everytime you step on the accelerator you are adding 30cc or more of raw gas to the intake because of the accelerator pump. Is the choke the bimetal spring type? Lock it open before you even start. Hold the accelerator down and dont pump it. Starter fluid might help, but I've seen more than one carburator fire from trying to start a really flooded engine using that so be ready for that possibility. let it set for a while if you can and some of the gas will naturally evaporate out of the system. Like someone said earlier if you dont have a spark it wont run. If all elae fails pull the plugs, spin the engine to clear the cylinders and then try it.

Holleys pump 30cc in 10 strokes.

Simply amazing the things you learn.
Holley accelerator pumps.

Now I will grant none of em ever deliver what they advertise.

Stay away from starting fluid, I had that stuff blow a plug out of an aluminum 4 cyl. head.

Pull all the plugs and let it set until the gas build up evaporates out of the cylinders.

Do the other checks for float level and spark.

BTW If you are running a Holly check for a ruptured power valve.

If you are going to do this, make sure you pull the coil wire out of the coil before you start to spin the engine. You'll have gas fumes going everywhere DAMHIK!!

yea, got that!

Weird, I give it more than one squirt and it floods on me. Had to wait 30 mins and after a couple of cranks it fired up.

around these parts today you just push it off to the side.

we got two interstates shut down in both directions secondary roads shut down
8-12 inches rain they say 6-8 more and severe thunderstorms.
place looks like an island
wont be able to go to school for a week and next week were my finals.

houses floating down the road
people were stranded on train
rescuing people out of their cars in boats off the interstate

if it were a week day and rush hour I can not imagine semis sitting everywhere flooded up to windows or higher buses water over the top in areas. have to from now on carry a life perserver and blow up raft in my truck just in case lol

guess will take a canoe tomorrow if I have to go anywhere lol

What plugs would you install? (mild 440 with Stealth aluminum heads)

Thanks. I was just digging around in the garage and came across 8 NGK XR51X iridium plugs- should I try those or just go buy 8 of those champions? Currently there are Autolite plugs in there. (previous owner installed those)

What gapping should these plugs be gapped at?

.035 gap, I had Autolite 3924's before. The car liked the champs better. I'm not sure if those NGK's are compatible. The champs are fairly cheap 1.99 each at Napa.

Ok, just pulled the plug and glad I checked em vs the NGK- NGK is much shorter.

Here is a pic of the spark plug I pulled and the 2nd pic is the Autolite vs the NGK (NGK much shorter)

Yeah you need the longer reach. Those plugs don't look bad.
