Trying to finish up my engine this weekend and ran into a snag! In the pic you can see I have to grind off the brass tab and the embossment is hanging halfway into the water jacket. will this be a sealing issues! And its my first time using cometice and I have that coppercoat so how much do you apply and how long to set up before installing. thx

I just ordered a set for a stock block and procomp heads. the fit is perfect. I would double check that they sent the gaskets for your application ie call them with your information and see if the correct part number was sent.

The brass tab won't be a problem unless it hits the block too. Don't grind it off. If it does get trapped in between the block and head just take a grinder to both and make a little clearance groove. That's what I just did on my World block and new B1 heads.

As for the sealing ridge, that'd worry me too. Maybe the copper coat or some Hylomar will take care of that issue?

Mine look like that, no issues. I use ultrablack around the water ports up to the valley on all layers and between the heads and valley pan.

I have never cut the rivets. indy maxx aluminum block and 440-1 heads.

Mine worked OK too when I had the 440-1 heads because the rivet wasn't trapped in between. With my B1s the rivet would be trapped so we needed to grind in some clearance.

From the picture it looks like the rivet won't hit the head so it'll just bend up a little and not be a problem.

I spray them with copper coat also. just spray them till they turn gold. I only wait till they are tacky. I also retorque my heads the next day.

you have a pic of your whole deck with the gasket on?

i use a drill bit on the rivets it works. I have used 100 sets of cometics over the past 6 years and never had one set leak. I don't put any thing on them just make sure they are clean

Are both heads the same around the water port? I would worry about that area, a good gob of ultra black and you might be ok.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I drilled the rivet on mine. I have also re-used mine a couple times. As stated, a little dab of sealer around the oil and water passages and you're good to go.
