One of my friends is getting read to buy a vacuum pump for his big inch mopar. It is 630ci which is going to be running on alchy (Dual Rons toilets). He is looking to make around 1150-1200 hp.

its coming to the end of his build and he said he CAN NOT afford a star pump even knowing its the best out there.

Whats the next best to buy?

GZ?
Moroso?
Aerospace?

Any info would be great. He plans to buy it next week cause he wants to go on the dyno soon.

I have a Aeospace unit.... I can say its not all that
good... cant comment on the others.... I can say that
my buddy likes his Moroso 3 blade but we ended up turning
it a little quicker for his BB ford (but I dont know
how tight things are in it)

I have a Moroso, Aerospace, and GZ. It's the GZ hands down. It's the best mandrel and bracket too.

My Enhanced 4 vane Moroso has never given me any issues. FWIW I am regulated down to 15" of vac, pulls 10 at idle with ease. I do use the Star relief valve and baffle however.

bought a GZ, no luck with it. Bought a moroso 3 vane, can't get more than 7 inches despite lots of effort and 50% drive speed. Do it right once, or you might be unhappy. More capacity tuned down to your needs along with a slow pump speed is much better than not enough like my setup. Am looking to buy a THIRD pump to get it right!

Big Al's right...
Get the Enhaned 4 vain version. The typical 3 vain on my moderate sized engine 560 inches doesnt pull enough vacuum to even require a regulator.
It does however keep the oil clean.. Warm the engine up well before running, and get the engine above 200 before its final shut down and pull the breathers to help let the condensate and steam out, or it will just condensate and settle back into water next time.

Are you saying you bought the GZ super pump pro and it still didnt suck enough for you?

So its seems like im down to a moroso 4 vane edhanced or GZ super pump

I bought the ford conversion pump, but couldn't get a response from them when I had issues. The best I could do with that pump was maybe 1 inch vac. I know nothing about their super pump, but the lack of response to my trying to get in touch with them doesn't sit well with me.

I'm thinking you have a leak somewhere. I use the Moroso 3 vane on my 572 and it makes 12-14 inches at WOT. The GZ pro pump had to be turned down with a pulley as it wanted to make 18-22 inches. Just a thought.

CV products mandrel is also very nice. You can turn the motor in either direction with the CV products one as well.

I have had very good luck with a 4 vane Moroso pump.

As far as mandrels Peterson Fluid Systems makes some very nice stuff. Thier splined drive is the best I have seen or used.
