I wouldn't worry about it. Mopar shafts are not noted for breakage. even with a .030 cut they are a pretty stout piece.

How about THIS: I had mine turned .040 under ! Bearings are available up to .050, so what the heck, roll with it.

Funny how people will turn a crank down to Shivy rod bearing sizes, yet others freak out with a .030" cut. I have a fresh 340 ready to go with .030" under rod journals. I'm only going to use it for IHRA Pure Stock racing and I'm not worried about it in the least.

Ain't that the truth? I always get a kick of that too.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

A noted local engine builder (who likes Chevs) told me that Chrysler cranks will take the most cut and still be strong. The crank in my son's 383 is .030 under......

I'm NOT an expert so I rely on input from folks who are. Interesting theory and prctice of local racer. He starts with at least .020 under and goes up from there stating that it gives him "more" bearing. I don't know if true or not but he flogs his stuff and doesn't break.

ive run em .040 under. no problems!

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

ive had mine ground .030, had a spun bearing, so had one journal welded and was ground .030, it was a crane racing crank, was done 15 yrs ago and still using it today with 150 shot of nitrous on my race/street car with no problems at all. I wouldnt sweat it, although when you grind .030 you are somewhat limited on bearing choices, but I dont think that it will be a problem for you since you are using it for street.
