Any thoughts / feedback on the 440 Source "I" beam rods? (for hot street/strip builds as an alternative to rebuilding stock rods) How is Size, consistency, quality, success or problems etc... They list them as 5140 alloy with arp 7/16" rod bolts. Seems like similar specs to an eagle SIR rod, but eagle doesn't list that app. http://store.440source.com/Connecting-Rods-RB-5140-Forged-Steel-NEW-Set-of-8/productinfo/200-1015/I wish SCAT made an I beam for these engines as I've had great experience with the Scat 4340 I beam rod in other applications. Thanks!

Why "I-beam" and not "H-beam" ?
The I beam is stronger than the H beam, look at all the high end rods, they are some sort of I beam .

Why "I-beam" and not "H-beam" ?
Personally, I like I beam rods when possible. I use the SCAT I beam quite a bit in SBC and BBC applications and at some decent power levels, even in endurance apps such as circle track.
In this case, just looking for an economical, but decent quality rod for typical 450-500HP or so street/strip engines that aren't beat on every weekend at the strip.
Stock mopar rods that I shot peen, re-size, with ARP bolts seem to hold up fine. But the stock rods are all over the place in weight and you spend some time balancing them. By the time you do all that, a set of reasonably priced aftermarket "I" beams is a wash and less work for me.
The 440 source rod might fit the bill. I'm wondering how the weights are within a set and if the big and small ends are sized well. (SCAT rods are pretty good) If I have to re-size all the 440 source rods before using them, it won't be so good.

They're still on the website, at least in the 6.76 size. I'll have to call and see if they are avail.

We had a set in a 64 Plymouth which was a 11.70 street/strip car. Our machinist liked them better than the CAT rods he had for another build and it was cheaper to buy them than rebuild the old rods, plus they came with 7/16" bolts. They did have alot of side clearance, but that didn't seem to be a problem with excessive oil on the cylinder walls. OK for a budget build it you check them.

I've been running them for over 3 years now. Same short block with different head made 850hp and ran 9.40 at 144mph. Wanted to slow the car down and went with some unported -1 and I've been running 9.90s for the past 2 years.
Mine were dead on, no work needed. I've got close to 700passes on them so far.
I've never had any problems with any of there part and I've built 4 motors with their stuff so far.

what does a set actually end up costing...???
My machinist didn't have to do a thing to them for my 512 stroker.
