I need a little help with tuning and an using an LM-1 meter.

On gas I am getting a reading of .97 lambda at idle and about .76 to .78 lambda at WOT. The sensor is about 6 inches from the head in the #6 cylinder tube (dragster upswept headers). ? I doubt that there is any dilution of the signal in the spot that the sensor is at.

If I understand correctly that is an air fuel ratio of roughly 14:1 and 11:1 to one respectively (lambda reading multiplied by 14.7). Do I have that correct?

What do you gas guys tune to for at idle and WOT?

If I switched to alcohol, the meter still reads in Lambda, so I just multiply the lambda readings by the stoichiometric air fuel ratio for methanol (6.42) to get the actual.

Is that the way the meter works?

What do you alcohol users tune the idle and WOT numbers to?

Thanks in advance,

Bob Spelic

You got it right Bob. At that lambda you are 22%-24% richer than stoich. So if you tune your carb for methanol to the same lambda you should be good. Plus watch your ET/MPH. Don

I jet and adjust the idle bleeds to have 14.2 to 15.3 at idle and very light throttle, 12.8 to 13.3 AFR at WOT on pump gas. My motors are all pump gas for now, soon to change when the 527 goes in

anyone else use an LM-1?

Any Alcohol guys want to share where they jet thier motors at?

Since I recieved feedback that I am using the meter correctly, I now need some input as to where is the best place to tune it to.

Cab gave you some good numbers to start with.

My car so far has ran its best ETs at 12.4-12.5

72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72. Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

12.5 is about .85 lambda right? So I should lean it out a little WOT.

Any alcohol numbers anyone want to share?

I plan to get a few runs on the new motor with gas then switch to alcohol.

1.0 lambda would be 6.42 for alcohol; right?

Best power is where in lambda? Still in the .85 range?

Bob
