I rebuilt, resealed, detailed, etc, the steering box in my GTX. Didn't have any problems it went back together good. It's in the car, but the engine isn't ready to run yet. I temporarily installed the column so my buddy could align the front end and noticed there is 10-15 degrees play in the wheel before the sector shaft begines to move. The splined input shaft backs out when turned left and goes back in when turning to the right. Maybe a quarter inch total. My first thought was maybe I left a thrust washer out. I adjusted the sector/rack adjustment probably too tight to rule it out. A couple friends suggested it could be normal and once hydraulic pressure hits the box it won't be noticable. I never noticed it until the column and steering wheel were in. They're back out now and the input shaft still feels snug. Any thoughts?

You've answered your own question,....but in the future go with a Firm Feel PS box stage III, worth the investment
