I have a 70 roadrunner and have lost the fender tag. I can document a whole bunch of the options and paint color. I need to figure out how to put all the codes on the fender tag and in order. Here is a list of the stuff it has or had. it was a 383 automatic console bucket seat hard top with roll up back windows. Has rear trunk light rocker mouldings upper door mouldings white paint white interior door panels and paint on inside door is white headliner is white dash black black and white seats black vinyl top has the axle package with heavy duty brake drums 11 inch on back 10 inch on front 355 sure grip. hood pins non udercoat (no wheel lip mouldings) also has the roadrunner at front of fenders and dust trail going down the side to the side scoops and had a rear tail panel stripe that i thought was red but was painted over and is originaly black rallye dash with tic toc tach 3 speed wiper motor and power steering has front sway bar also also had the performance balckout hood paint is no a/c and 22 inch rad support pedal dress up trim wood grain steering wheel am radio road runner decor group A87 is the code for the dust stripe and tail panel I think.
I am not trying to cheat anyone at all so dont even go there all I would like to do is put a duplicate fender tag in the place of the lost one and I have pics to documnet all of this I do not intend to sell the car but if I do I will make sure the buyer knows about the fender tag.
Thanks for any help !!!!!
Dave !

I'll ask the obvious...Did you look for a broadcast sheet? I'm guessing you did, but I had to ask.

For one, if the car has a 22" radiator support, it did not come with the axle pkg from the factory... And, does it have 10.87" front discs or 10" front drums with 11" in the rear? If it has 11x2.5 drums in the back, the car would have come with 11x3's in the front.

Probably, because without the buildsheet, there is no way to know for sure what the car was built with...or what was just altered over 40 years of time ?

To me if ANYTHING has to be guessed at, the tag is a fake. If you have no documentation where is the VON going to come from?

Fakeland?

There are way too many fake tags out there as it is.

Well i didnt go and measure the brake drums so you are proably correct on that one. I assumed since it had the biig finned brake drums on the back and the front drums looked bigger than normal i assumed it had the axel package my bad on that one.

On a sidebar... I am new to this Mopar stuff. I just got a 70 GTX and the owner kept the fender tag with the build sheets and said he never would leave it on the car because they are stolen too often. Sure like my GM rivets. Anyhow I would like to have a duplicate tag made, is there someone that makes a good replica? I would like to leave one on my car, but would hate to lose the original one.

who in the heck is going around and stealing fender tags? at shows with the hood up? if sooooo worried, use a security torx on one of the tag screws, but i have never known of anyones tag being stolen.

It surprises me too. With the VIN on it, it would not seem to be worth anything except on a car with matching VIN. But I looked at a lot of Mopars before I settled on this one and one guy that did not have a fender tag "claimed" it was stolen. Since it was a RM23N Road Runner with 440 stuffed in, I can't see the owner would need to make up a story since the most significant alteration was already staring me in the face. I have also had center caps, trim rings and a gas cap go missing from shows. People unfortunately do steal stuff with a lot of other people around.

To heck with the tag, I'm wondering how you wound up with a 70 Road Runner built at Hamtramck plant.

If it's a Lynch Road built car, it's impossible to get the base, gate and sequence number you'll need as they are nowhere but on the original tag.

If it's a St. Louis or LA built car, you'd need the correct VON from factory or dealer paperwork.

Seeking:

1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs.
Over 2,000 thanks to you!

if someone sold you a car, and told you that you couldnt have the fendertag and buildsheet, you should have run far, and fast. the only reason to not give you those, is because they will be different, than what he sold you. (imo) even if he was gonna be an f/tard, he shoulda gave ya scanned copies of them. some refuses to hand over docs for the sale, he wont be selling to me...
if you're saying he removed them for showing, but you got them, it's understandable. there was a posting in this forum, a few months ago, about some guys at a car show, stealing fendertags. one guy distracts the owner, while second guy used an electric screwdriver, and third guy was lookout. some guys remove the originals, and put a repop in it's place, so if it is jacked, they are still "safe" with the real one tucked away.

I will give you a hint on your tag. Make sure to include the code ID10T, all Hamtramck plant B-bodies had this code. You figure out where to place it.
