I have an opportunity to get a new MoPar crossram and carbs for my 472, motor currently has the Indy 4150 single plane w/830 Qwikfuel, the motor is a 10:1,300-540 hyd,Stage V sr's,Landy roller rkr,2 1/8 TTI's,472 all through stroke, car is a 65 Coro sdn. 727,9.5 conv, 4.10's 29 inch tire, Is the MoPar crossram close to the original in ht? as in will it fit under a 990 scoop? and would I pickup or lose pwr with this intake? thanks, Steve

Tough call, my guess is that you would lose power but with only a 830 carb on there now it might be a draw.

What carb would you recommend for a street/strip car Andy?

It will fit under the hood.I would think the crossram would perform a little better.

The Cross Ram will make 1000HP (ported)...
So it is plenty capable. I think there is plenty of aftermarket support to get the correct cross ram carbs performing very well.

The newest Mopar Performance cross ram intake ( Part Number 5007534 ) will fit under the standard race hemi scoop, BUT do not plan on using the NEW $ 500.00 to $ 600.00 Mopar Performance air horn air filters . They will not fit under the scoop. The new Mopar Performance cross ram intake is approx. 1 1/2" taller than the original magnesium cross ram intake used in 1965. The best way to run air filters is to purchase two ( 2 ) Proform chrome air filters from Jegs and then cut the bases down & re-weld the base plates for a close fit under the race hemi scoop. How do I know ??? I dealt with this problem last Fall on my 1965 Plymouth Race Hemi Tribute Car.

Good Luck...

a hemi just doesn't look right unless you have 2 carbs on it. that being said you'd probably be better off with the inline intake or a re-pop of the origional style cross ram. the newer one seems to be high RPM oriented on smaller engines like yours and will leave a little bit to be desired down low

Everything was looking great until I see on another post(572 Hemi hp guesstimate) where it looks like Bob Coomer has spacers under his carbs to clear the KB breathers on his KB valvecovers or maybe it's the way the pic is taken but I have the same covers/breathers, so here we have another height issue so maybe I'll have to run tin covers to make it work- I have 2000 MoPar bucks (thanks to a new Challenger purchase) I have to spend by the end of the month and it's becoming like the typical "Monkeys paw"
