Probable a stupid question... I have a MP electronic Ignition kit and I am getting ready to install it with a Evans Wiring engine harness made for a electronic ignition. The harness has the plug for the ECU and also a plug for a Voltage Regulator
The MP instructions do not show a diagram or need for a voltage reg....Other than being mentioned in helpful suggestions for race applications only....
I don't mind running one just want to make sure it is OK to..

Also, will the ballast resistor that comes with a Orange box work with a Chrome ECU...

Thanks,

voltage regulator has nothing to do with ignition, even they are related.

Voltage regulator is related with CHARGING system. Only wire what links them is the ign switch source ( blue wire )

Like he said the ignition doesn't give a rip if there is a regulator or alternator or any type of charging system as long as the battery has enough voltage to fire the system.

If this is a triangle shaped plug get a stock '70 up stock flat VR and you're set. Yes same ballast (1.25 ohm) for orange and chrome ecu's and I'd highly suggest the chrome box.

Oh and by the way, YOU NEED a regulator... if not, won't have charge from alternator so batery will dye and not even GOD will fire up your engine back

Depends on your intended usage. If on the street yes you need a charging system but there are many race cars that run without one. So the "NEED" is relative to the application and usage.
