Replacing motor in the 66' sport fury, and replacing the ignition system. I have the mopar chrome box, and have all the wires labled, but I need to know which side of the ballast resistor does the one wire mount to. I can test with a amp / ohm meter, so I need to know which side of the resistor. Thanks, Matt

Thanks HW, I hope I can figure out which side is which, but it won't be too hard. Just power up and test the run side [12 volt side] Right?

The resistor doesn't care what side is connected to what -- you just want to make sure your + wire from your coil is on the opposite side of the wire from the ECU. I wasn't sure what you meant by "one wire" so I figured the diagram would be best for you. You also want to make sure your "start" wire is on the same side as the + coil wire and the "run" wire is on the side of the ECU. I forget what colors those wires are without breaking out the shop manual. If need be, I can do that too...

I think you answered my question, I have all the wires labled when I took it off my duster when I replaced it with a 6al. Just wanted to make sure which side of the ballast it went to. Thanks HW..........Matt

No prob! If you run into probs let me know -- I can take a look at one of my cars and take pics if I have to. I have the chrome ECU in 2 of the 3 cars at my house -- the 3rd is running a 6al.

I was doing a search for ignition boxes and found this thread. I hooked up my new electronic ignition exactly like the diagram above and it would only have spark when the engine was cranking. The tech guy told me the ballast resistor was bad and they sent me a new one. It still does the same thing. So I wired it up without the ballast resistor. Basically key on power to the coil and the ignition module. It runs like crap. Running it in the garage in park it isn't too bad but under a load it is terrible. I have checked what I know how to and can't find a problem. It seems like ignition though since it is worse under a load. I have the Proform kit with the orange box. (Jegs)
