Hey Guys... looking for input on where is the best place to mount an electric fuel pump, probably the holley blue or equivalent?? Instructions I've read on line say lower than tank? I don't want it hanging too low and I know it's supposed to be close to the tank. I'm installing it on a '66 belvedere ii. Where has everyone else mounted theirs?? As always Thanx a lot for all the help!

If it doesn't have a motor.....it's not a REAL sport

They want them lower than the tank so that they are gravity feed fuel and less of a chance of cavitating which could cuase a failure.

Nothing on mine is stock so pics of mine wont help you much

I mounted mine on the frame rail just in front of the tire. Its about on level with the gas tank, but when its pumping, it creates a siphon effect once fuel reaches it. Since its only pulling about 2-3 inches of fuel until it primes (if that on a low tank)it works pretty good. Get yourself some rubber isolators so the Blue pump doesnt drown out your headers!

My son and I both use the Holley red pump with good results. I have both mounted in front of the gas tank up against the floor. I know they are not lower then the tank but they work fine there and they are street cars so we dont want them hanging to low. The one on the boys Dart has been there since 1997 and my 63's has been there since 2006. Never any problems as they both run mid 11's. Ron

This is when I still had the old 8 3/4 in the car. Still in the same location. I bolted this plate up into the trunk, and then hung the pump off it, in front of the gas tank.

from the rear

I have noticed some cars react differently than others to fuel pump location. Not sure why.

example
I set up a 69 B body similiar to my own, and we could not get it to stop fuel starving with only a bung in the bottom of the tank. We had to use a tank with sump in it.

It's never been a problem on mine, and mine was the faster of the two cars.

I used to have one on my car, it was mounted right by the sending unit, on the transverse frame rail, the one the shocks mount through. I never had a problem with cavitation, no matter how much fuel was on the tank. The differences in performance may have something to do with the venting methods of various tanks. Mine has the four tubes sticking out the front of the tank, connected to the vapor manifold which was then plumbed up to the charcoal cannister up front.

some cars also have electrical issues that won't get the electric fuel pump working to its full potential. measuring the voltage without a load on it won't tell you if you have a problem. also the alterantors maybe undersized for the application.

Under the passengers seat. Attach to the Frame ties or cross over...

I like the way dave did it.

Currently I have mine in the little pocket in front of the leaf spring. I have so far two tanks gone thru it and will go on a cruise this friday to check it out some more.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

I like the frame rail better because it as closer the the tank, but I decided to go full exhaust and get rid of the flowmasters
