definitely dont use Thorpes custom body shop in O'Fallon Illinois. He's a thief, you'll never get your car or parts back. just a heads up even though you live in NJ. i took it in the can.

Hello,
If I new someone in the area, I would gladly recommend them. The closest person I can even think of would be in PA-Dennis Kohr @ Korhs Customs, but he is backed up as are most good shops.
Unfortunately, finding a restoration shop within a few hours can be very tough. Depending on what quality you are looking for, you may have to have a car shipped several states away to be satisfied with the end result. Remember, it cost less to do it right the 1st time than to do it over! If you are really set on getting something done close to home, I would be happy to offer advice on what to look for in a shop, and I'm sure others here will chime in.
Good luck,
Paul

I know of an excellent new shop in East Berlin PA. Tons of Mopar knowledge and does excellent work. They are currently working on my 71 RR. Superior Classic Auto Restoration. 1-717-870-9214

My personal recommendation is you find one within a reasonable drive (whatever you feel that is) and visit them often.

Hopefully, it will help keep your car from being ignored, you'll be able to watch the progress and discuss in person, you can possibly catch stuff you don't like and discuss before it's too late, and if something doesn't smell right, you can take action to minimize any potential damage.

Not trying to scare you, just pointing out that you have a lot more control when you can visit frequently and observe. If the guy doesn't like that, then I wouldn't use him. Now, I'm not saying be a pest, but it is your car and your money.

Great advise!!

Did the same thing with my paint shop. Went there almost everyday after work to see the progress. In only 10 days my car was done and out of there.

Not to steal the post, but lately I've been considering a restoration shop too. But i want to find one that knows what pieces are missing and and everything top to bottom about my car since I'm still in the learning phase. But unfortunatly the previous owner already had my car torn apart for the most part, I'm sure that complicates it for the restorer and it also needs rear frame rails + usual repair. Rj Cars looks good because they've previously done a 70 RT SE, But i dont know if my car is something someone would even take under.

There's a guy in Torrance, PA that I believe does only mopars. I know he's had cars in mags and used to charge less than most places. I'm in Latrobe, but too busy to take on anything else any time soon.
