So I have a set of Stage V heads that have 2.30 valves. The edge of the bore near the intake valve needs to be relieved to make sure it clears. I took an old cometic gasket and traced out the relief in the gasket onto the deck and used a die grinder to add clearance.

Any one else do this or running the same thing? I just want to make sure I have enough clearance. The cometics are .027" thick. The valve pockets are wide enough, just concerned about the valve to bore just as the valve opens.

You should only need a .023" deep relief ground @ 35* from bore centerline for the clearance you are trying to get.
