Hello,
I have a 69 Plymouth GTX 440 4-speed. RS23L9G and build date of 305. Would the 054 radiator be correct? and would it be small font or large font and what would be acceptable date codes on the top tank for the 305 build date.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Moparts

You really need yoru build sheet to be CORRECT. Do you have a 22' or 26" core support?

Mine has the 26" core, forgot to include that.
No build sheet, just fender tag.

The 055 is what you want. As far as large versus small, it's your call I believe. From my learning here, the large font was a pre-mid-year thing and then slowly, the small font took over during the later part of the production run. That doesn't say though there weren't any large fonts that popped up after mid-year.. I believe the 054 is associated with the 440's which came with one of the super high performance axle packages, Dana or 8.75...

This is my understanding........
Troy

EDIT: looks like it is the 055 with the 4-speed 3.54 Dana equipped car.

Here's a discussion on the Charger Board..

Charger Board thread on 26" rad's in '69.

If it's a regular 440 4-speed with 3.54, looks like the radiator is 055 (2-core), the 054 (3-core) were for the optional 4.10 gears and Hemi auto/man?

Yes, mine is the A33 code, trac pack option, 3.54 DANA. So the 055 would be the correct radiator since the A33 code was considered standard for the 440 4-speed. Is the second line the date code on the top tank? and if so, how do you decode it?

Thanks to all for the info, I appreciate the help.

With no build sheet it could be either but the 055 is standard with the 054 the upgraded HD cooling.

Im using a 054 in my 69 440/4speed Coronet R/T with 3.54 gears. I have no BS and the car is an original Az car so Im going with the HD cooling.

My 69 GTX is also a 440 4-spd 3.54 Trac Pack car. Radiator is 055 as confirmed by the build sheet. Don't forget the power steering cooler which was also original to these cars.

Don't hold me to it, but I think if it has a pwr str cooler . it signifies max cooling - thus would have an 054 radiator.
My old GTX was a 440 - 4spd - 3/54 Dana - man drum brakes - No ps cooler and an 055 radiator

Right, in 69 if it was 4.10 Dana, it was supposed to have ps cooler & 054.

Not true, 69 440 4 speed track pack 354 dana had an 055 and a ps cooler.

I just sold my 69 Coronet and the 055 radiator was original looking when I bought it and the date code on the right side was correct. The PS cooler looked original and was dated correct for the car. the distributor dual point Prestolite looked original and was dated correct for the car etc...

Same with the 69 GTX I had 10+ years ago.

That's what my Daytona and soon-2-be C500 has, both A32's with autos, 054...

Dana, my former '69 Charger 500 had a 440, 4-speed, 3.54 Dana, ps cooler and prestolite dual-point & 055 radiator.

Bill remember a while back I asked the same question about a '69 GTX that I know was untouched and it was a 4-spd with power steering (with cooler) power disc brakes and a 3.54 Dana and had a 055 radiator. I thought it should have a 054 but it had the original 055 in it and thought it was not correct but it is.

055 radiator with 3.54 Dana, power steering with cooler in an unmolested 4-speed '69 GTX to add to the list.
