Interesting... I could have sworn I saw a few "known correct" cars with the tall style master. Good news nonetheless! MB

I've seen more than a few "known correct" cars over the years that have aftermarket master cylinders on them. Master cylinders go bad pretty often in cars that aren't driven much. Back in the day, I wouldn't be surprised if some master cylinders went bad on some new cars sitting out in the lot prior to the car being sold. Another thing I found, is that Bendix superceeded the 9191 master cylinder with the 5621 number some time in the 70's. I found a couple NOS 5621 master cylinders in Bendix boxes with the Bendix number that was for the 9191. Also, in some old Bendix rebuilt stock I have found both 9191 and 5621 in the same part number boxes. All disc brake hemi cars built in '70 and '71 should have rolled off the assembly line with 9191's though.

Interesting..
I know you are the MC guru. I thought I remember seeing an original roadtest of a 1970 Charger Hemi with the tall MC. But even there, it could have been a preproduction model and hence would not have had all of the parts that a regular production car would normally have.

Actually to me the pic of the HEMI cuda looks correct if you zoom in on it.
To my eye, it looks too tall. The '67-'69 disc C body p/n 2881870 with casting number 2226811 looks very much like the '70-'71 hemi only MC, except it is an inch or so taller. It is also a 1-1/8" bore cylinder, and a few have referred to it as the "poor man's" 2229191. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) Here is a C body disc (left) next to a '9191.

Sorry if I side track this post for a second but Mastershake loves to check out master cylinders and I love to check out wiper motors. Notice in the picture that the wiper motor has a sticker on it. I have come across several like this in 20 years of doing them. Master would you be able to email me a larger size copy of that picture please? It is proof that some cars came out with "sticker" motors when correctly stamped motors were not in stock. Thanks Jules gdaddio@videotron.ca

Cool deal. Jules ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)
Kinda the same deal as the radiators with the "overlay" tag soldered over the original part number. Like they say, the show must go on!
