Hi On my 69 super bee I have the painted rims which of course are painted body color. Is it correct for the spare to be painted the same or should it be black. Thanks for your help.

Probably wrong as the Misses always points out, but............, of the original cars we have had they have black painted spares. I do believe this was the case as it would have been a PITA to supply spares that were stocked to match the rim color callout. Especially when one thinks back to the day if they were color keyed you could have the possibility of a yellow spare rim in a red wheel car. Buildsheets were mixed up on over a dozen cars we restored, only a couple digits off, very similar car but wrong sheet.
Anyhow will go check on an original 67 QQ1 Formula S we have had from new tonight.
Then again probably wrong again, though doubt it on this one.

I've seen the spares painted black and I've seen them body color. I have an un-used spare for a '69 that is black with the original whitewall tire. I never used it on the resto because at the time I had the same question as you.

So to me, it looks like they were a mixture

If the car had body color wheels on the ground the spare was body color, if it had full wheel covers or road wheels the spare was black.
Spare wheel color is a good clue to what was on a car originally if you don't have a broadcast sheet.
