hmmm lets see. for my engine breakin I used the cheapest oil wallmart had (10w30) along with superweak valvesprings. after cam breakin and a hour to change back to the good springs. twas good to go. and for 'regular' running I use the cheapest oil wallmart had (10w30), changed every 2000miles w/ new filter and again with no problems.

and I know less then pretty much anybody. BUT I do know that I never wiped any cam during breakin. many many years of good service. zinc this and that is all marketing hype. todays oils, even the cheap stuff is vastly superior to anything refined 30+ years ago.

now i might not know alot, but your looking to wipe out your cam. unless you have a newer car that cheap walmart oil is not what you want. you need an oil rich with zinc , or you need to use some zinc additive with the walmart oil. just my . i use the brad penn green oil. st 30 for break in, and 10w30 after break-in
Just a note ... the WallyWorld oil has the same spec as most good oils out there B U T ....
I would agree that HE is lucky that he does not wipe-out the cam with super-weak valve-springs.
ACCORDING to some of the cam literature I have read .. if you do not have proper-pressure on the lifters .. the lifters will not correctly rotate.
