....an older vehicle?
I advertise magnum harnesses in the Modern Moparts section. I have been working on a hemi harness for a gentlemen and a MAGNUM harness for someone to pilot.
I would like to give someone who is ready to do a MAGNUM swap the opportunity for a PCM and harness that I have made. The catch is I would like quick feedback about what needs to be changed and issues with it.
The harness is OBD I, and therefore besides headers and exhaust you probably wont be able to do any upgrades. This is more for a driver.
PM or reply to this thread with your intentions so I can see what would be the best application to pilot the harness.
There will be a small fee involved, to cover my small expenses I have wrapped up in the first one.
This is for a vehicle with a manual trans or auto w/o overdrive. Almost all of the sensors are on the harness. You will need a magnum engine, a high psi fuel pump, and a tranny that has the notch for crank sensor (or be willing to notch the bellhousing).

Its a 94 computer and harness. I have about 95% of all the sensors, so we could swap everything out on a 96-02 if I am thinking correctly. Flexplate is only thing I do not have for one right now.
Thanks Justin
Yes this is a MAGNUM MPI OBD 1 harness and computer

I do not have a 94 crank sensor, but have one for a 99.
Also need the ECT sensor for PCM.
I might just buy these from the local parts store, so I know all sensors are for the correct PCM.
I helped a friend do a 3.9 - 360 swap in a 94 dakota, and we had to swap mostly sensors, but maybe a throttle body too.
AndrewH dont you have a magnum engine in an older vehicle? Did you use the original painless kit, or was that someone else?

if I didn't have a little one on the way in a couple months, I'd be interested...I have a magnum top end on my roller cam 318 in my car, as well as a complete magnum intake/top end in my garage. I'd prefer to use the '96 up setup, as I actually have the old MP computer from my truck (5.2/5 speed)

I am putting a 97 Magnum into a 73 Cuda. I am mating it to a lockup 904 that is so far not notched. I could notch it if need be. I was going to go with LA timing chain cover, EQ heads with LA intake drill and tap and a stock LA 2 barrel intake and carb. I was also going to go with low pressure fuel pump. It was to evolve to Magnum intake, fuel injection and throttle body using a Megasquirt computer to run everything. An intermediate step was to use the Megasquirt to just handle ignition timing with the LA intake setup. Craig

While I stand up and appluad your effort where Ma Mopar has let us down I have to say that by using OBD I you severely limit any tuning abillity.I think only B&G flash these things anymore and it's expensive.
If you used a OBDII harnes you open it up to a lot of different tuning options and would probably see TONS more interest as a result.
while it is limited in tuning, it is the cheapest way to get efi at this time. And the most stand alone of the magnum set. Which is why a lot of people expressed interest in this year (era) magnum motors.
I went with the 98 and up because painless wanted to go that route and they got the connectors for it. But now it looks like they are going to bypass the magnums and move on to the hemi motors.

I agree the 96 and newer harnesses open up the market for people wanting to do upgrades. With that said I will make a 96 and newer harness for anyone wanting one. On the otherhand, I believe this is the easiest and cheapest way a hobbiest can get EFI in their musclecar. The 95 and older harnesses is easy and cheap to make, so I figured I would try one. My intentions of this harness, is for a driver. Someone wanting efi reliability, the neat factor, and being budget based. Would be good in a street rod in my opinion. I appreciate everyones feedback, and just want to offer people an opportunity for easy EFI. Justin I will try to post pics of it tonight. By the way, this was a very easy harness to do.

I've done a few of these and been involved in several others. To my mind, '96-98 JTEC or '99-up JTEC+ computers are the way to go for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which are the smaller size of the PCM, much greater reliability, faster clock speed, flash reprogrammability, universal diagnostics capability, etc.
The only caveat: If you are not using a "RE" (electronic governor) trans (in other words, and older "RH", 727, 833, etc.) be sure to sue a PCM from a manual trans vehicle.
The first car I did was with the MP cal and a 425 HP crate 360. Started instantly on the first turn of the key. Best car I ever built. Wiring's a cinch!

Hey Rick not to get off track, but did you go OBDI or OBDII ? 425 HP seems alot to run on OBDI.

I am sure it was OBD 2.
Again, I WILL MAKE A 96 & LATER OBD2 HARNESS for anyone that wants one. I only did this one (OBD1)because it was EASY!!!
I have less than 75$ in this harness and PCM, when it is done! That to me is cheap!!!
Think about this...
Complete 360 250$ on craigslist High psi fuel pump 100$ Money I have in this harness (75$) no labor... Odds and ends added in 300$ Notch tranny for crank sensor Now with some fab work, exhaust, wiring, you have efi in your 73 duster driver or 78 short bed ram for under 1k$.
The 96 and later harnesses are more time consuming, and harder to find one for a PCM for a manual trans.
