sucks big time. at least it didnt take out everything
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

My condolences, that really sucks.
Did it have bolts or studs on the mains?
Bolts. All the caps but #4 I snapped loose.

Next is the challenging chore, what failed first Converter bolt or main web failure
No challenge here. Convertor bolts were done with red lock tight and torqued to 45 ft. lbs. Motor ran for almost 2 years and approx 375 passes with no issues. This was the 1st freshen up with the same parts. 1st build was over 400 passes.

Finally took the motor apart from a friends car that the convertor bolts came loose on and this what Cgall and I found. Glad I followed my gut.
is that the # 4 main? this usually happens from a non balanced converter or one that is not put together properly. i had a maxwedge break a block the same way in the # 4 main, started checking parts and found that the drive that goes into the trans pump was out .040 from the receiver hub that goes into the crank. this engine kept on loosening up the converter bolts as well.

Of course it's too late now, but studs might have helped it stay together a little longer. It looks like the break point is roughly where a bolt would end (just shy of the bottom of the threaded hole).
That idea doesn't make it suck any less, though. Good catch, could have been a disaster for the whole car instead of just the motor.
