I'm going to be spraying just the nose of a 70 challenger r/t s/e and I want to try and match it to the original paint as best as I can. The rest of the car is in really nice original hemi orange paint and thought it would great to keep the original paint on the car and just paint out the nose for it. I'm going take a peice of sheet metal and do trials on it with different color sealers and spraying the new paint over it to see which gives me the closest match to the car. I might also keep taking the paint in and have them change the color of it to get it just right.

Any one else have any ideas on what's my best bet to get a really close match?

I've done the scan the paint thing and it always seems to be shades off every time. Is there some brand paints that will match better then others?

Any help would be awesome

The gun you use along with the nozzle size effects color, line pressure also can effect color. Smaller tips usually caused colors to become lighter. You may want to remember these tips.

never going to happen. I don't care what you use or how the paint is mixed. it will never match. It doesn't even match on a car thats a few years old. Save your cash and get the entire car painted.

Really I'm pretty sure I've seen survivor cars that have had spots blended and they look pretty darn nice?

I dunno. I seen a few and while they are close it's a tad off. I guess the only color that wouldn't be a problem would be black. But hey anythig is better than a big patch of primer.

If you really want this to happen, you will probably have to hire a professional to do it-in enamel as original. It can be done and be VERY close, but it can't be done by most. The paint scanners won't get it done, find someone who has been painting & tinting their own paint for the last 20 years. It would be worth it if the rest of the car is original!

mix it in dupont centari single stage enamel popular position, use white under coat for orange i think it was best, keep adding yellow chroma base tint to it little at a time to get the right fade on test panels.you want it faded color but shiny top coat put some clear coat in your single stage. my six pack bee is blended all over most cant even tell outside

MOPAR OR NO CAR
