Got a mystery motor 340 on my hands... need help. Cam and lifters are brand new never been run. Hdraulic flat tappet. Cam has typical purple paint near the front. Only number is on the rear face 950252. Any ideas ???

Are you saying use a degree wheel and get the specs? I pulled the motor apart already... How many hydraulic small-block purple cams did they make?? The dates on the bearings are all mid-90s so I am figuring the cam must have been installed then because it has never been run. Hoping somebody has knowledge or an old Direct Connection catalog maybe??

you don`t need a degree wheel. a dial caliper will work, its really easy, its so easy a caveman can do it. measure the narrow part of the lobe and write it down. next measure the tall part, write it above the first number. do some subtraction. take your answer and mulitply it by 1.5. this will be the lift of your cam.

Actually called the Direct Connection tech line. They ID'd it. Its a 284/484. Thanks
