I talked to a TTI rep today at the INDY Show.......

He told me the SB 1 7/8" primary headers for OEM/Edelbrock RPM
heads are now available.

He also told me they have somebody out there with 2 versions of their
SB header in 3" and 3 1/2" collector for back to back dyno tests, so......

They may (and should) have them available with the 3 1/2" collectors.

That's all I know and told him, I'd pass it along.

So now you all with 408-up strokers have a decent HP making header
with the same ground clearance, etc. as the rest of their line.

Somebody at TTI listened.

Yes, that is good news! There sure wasn't much choice before on anything more than a street header for stock port heads.

That's awesome news! I just tried to order a set for my W5's and was told that they would not be available until May 15'th roughly. Maybe by that time there might be a set avail with 3.5" instead
Thanks for letting us know Vic

I'm guessing after 1967.
after talking Bob Mazzoloni, he said they made a set for pre 68 for him or a customer. the early a bodies are a pain in the a$$. just got done building a 66 GT 360 cu.in. I used a set of block Huggers and modified the drivers side to clear the steering box.
I received as set of TTi for my 1969 340 a few weeks ago always a nice product from TTI

At what point does a SB engine require 1 7/8 headers vs the stepped headers?

Would a solid cam 6 pak stroker with 550 lift benefit from the 1 7/8 vs the stepped header?
6500 rpm engine

It depends on cubic inches and RPM where it's going to be operated.

I'm basically talking about 400+ drag type engines.

A street 408" that spends it's time doing commute duty with the
occasional romp down a straight stretch, isn't really going to
matter. The 1 7/8" x 3 1/2" might be worth 10-15 HP on an engine
like that BUT, not at 3000 RPM.

On a race oriented stroker, you might see 30-40 HP in drag trim.

Would I spend the money on the big tubes for a street 416" from scratch? YES

Would I buy the big tubes if I already had the small ones? Probably

......but, that's just me. I doubt you'd notice it on a low RPM streeter.

If somebody can post the part numbers for their respective body
styles, it would be helpful to interested parties.

Not sure there is enough sets of those heads out there to justify the need. I don't think brodix even makes them anymore?

I called TTI this morning to pick their brain about W5 headers with a 3.5" collector and was flatly told they are not making one- it was solely a rumor...I'll be pissed if I buy a set with the standard 3" collector and they come out with a 3.5 shortly after.
That would be my luck though....

Good luck...if they won't make something to fill the giant hole in the w7/w8/w9 header market, I doubt you'll ever see a version for that head from them...

Brodix still makes it, They are selling a bunch for dirt cars in the IMCA spec head, but as for a street head, its not supposed to be, but I dont see why, they are a good casting, and mine are pretty damn nice for what I have in them. I know they arent as nice as an Indy set, but They will be fine for my setup.

B1-BA Spec head is a very popular Chrysler Dirt track head, & seem to work well on methanol....

But lack of fitting headers (amungst other things) makes them a poor choice for a street car.... kind of a catch 22.... No one buys the heads because no headers fit, & header company won't make header for it because no one runs that head.... To be honest I think there is bigger market for W9 A body header than there is for B1-BA. 1 7/8 to 2" step with 3.5" collector W9 A body header would be a decent seller IMO. Would allow alot more people to think about doing a simple W9 motor rather than using INDY heads/W5/W2 so much....

Last 700 HP Motor I dynoed with set of TTI 1 7/8's lost 23 HP going from 1 7/8-2" Step's with 3.5 collectors to the straight 1 7/8-3" W2 TTI's

A little confusing, the way it's worded......

It made more power with the step x 3.5" header?
