Replaced the jesel rocker arms as some of them snapped @ the adjuster area (3 exhaust) , removed valve covers to reconfigure the baffle plates & found all rocker arms hitting side of valve covers , seems these newer rocker arms have the adjuster area beefed up which is where they hit the valve covers , had to clearance the sides of valve covers for clearance , these cast indy valve covers are pretty thin so had to go carerful , broke through on the last one.

Anyone had this issue?

TIA.

We had to use sheet metal on our B1s.

Supercomp , those Jesels on you're engine are the same as the one's in had on my 572-13 heads , the new one's on there now have the adjuster area beefed up , you're one'es are flat across the area where the adjuster screws in , the newer type rocker arms have more material in this area which puts them closer to the side of valve cover , i would say a good 1/4" closer.

Do they make a reverse lip cover for the BB, I have
to use the reverse lp cover on my SB and I had to
notch the lip and gasket for push rod clearance

Yep. We had the same problem, clearenced and OK. Problem will be more with 1.5 arms compared to 1.6.

I don't know Mr P , going to the yearly 'swap meet' tommorow , will see what's there.

I could gain some more clearance opening up the hold down stud holes.

We've had 3 types of 1.6 rocker arm. (one type wouldn't fit the notched rail though) The early type, (non tumbled) just caught the covers, this was back in '99 so we clearenced them then. 1.5 arms are longer so the problems gotta be worse. We might be changing to 1.7 arms next season, cant see a problem with these and 572 heads really respond to that particular ratio.....apparently.

my 572-13,s really woke up when i went from 1.55 to 1.7,s. 3/4 point more compression and the rocker ratio switch was worth about 40-50 hp on my 580" motor.

I've heard this more than a few times now, so I'm inclined to believe this to be the case. However, IMHO I'd assume that the rise in compression contributed to the majority of the 50hp rise rather than the ratio change. I'd put the arms at 20hp, max, again going from what I've heard. Still worth it though in my book
Sorry to Hijack the thread here Adam

No problem Tig , i've just stepped up one full point of compression , 9.4 to 10.4 , so hoping to see around 50 horses just on this mod , i realise if i went from 10.5 to 11.5 it would get to diminishing returns.

TBH I would have considered 11.5:1 cr, piston is same price regardless. You can get away with it, though it depends on intake closing timing (in our case 92 deg's ABDC). Sorry to ramble on, I've had about 8 pints and a few Vodka's tonight Nostrovia
