the hardest part in tearing out the old floor pan. that's where most of the time goes in. If you have the skill, you should try and get it out yourself and hire the welding done. As for price, I wouldn't know, Ive always replaced them myself. also, just a personal preferance, I dont like to tear them out until I get the new pans in to make sure Im not taking too much out.
I agree, you can do the dirty work then either hire someone to weld the new pan in or buy a welder & learn.. It's not that hard.. If you decide to try it there are lots of useful tips... Likew using self tapping drill point screws to hold everything together tightly & removing every second screw to weld the hole shut...

I just put a new front pan in my '63 B body. I had a donor car so we had NUMEROUS spot welds to drill out prior to installing it. It took about 6-7 hours to get it out cleanly and then we sand blasted it (yours is new, I know) and by the time we fitted it to the rockers and foot well, welded it in and ground down the welds, we had anothe 6-7 hours invested in it. A lot more work than you might guess. Most shops around central Oregon charge $45-$60 per hour plus the $500+ for the floor pan. Hope this helps, Mike.
Wow, 14 hours @ $60 = $840 + $500 for the floor = $1,340 that seems cheap but I'm not including the in-between time/labor and shop materials that are part of it, so any guesstimates on actual average cost. It just seems really low even if we round up to $1,500 or even $1,800 IMO or am I wrong??? (of course you're wrong MikeR, when have you ever been right )

I would say its about a 6 to 8 hour job. You can remove the old pan pretty quickly with grinders if not saving any section of it. You will then have some spot welds to remove at the firewall end. Then clean up and paint of the inside of the frame rails. You can fit it in and add some screws to it so you can move the car to a welder. Also try to find someone with a small portable welder that could come to your place and weld them in.

I had four floor pans put in my '63 330 (before they had complete 1 piece floors) . I did a lot of the removal myself with a plasma cutter, prepped the cross member and dropped it off at a local welder. He did a great job and charged me $600.00. He was kinda hesitant to tell me how much it was going to be because he thought I'd have a heart attack. Honestly I though it was very fair considering the time involved.
