Ok, doing a disc swap per the Mopar Action article and I'm stumped on the calipers. I've been on the RockAuto, Advance Auto Parts and Autozone websites and none of their calipers look like the "4" or "5" calipers in the attached photo. I'm looking at calipers from a '76 Cordoba. The hose mounts are different and apparently that's critical.

Also, in the article it gives aftermarket part numbers EIS RC6066/65. Who the hell is "EIS" ?

The article doesn't seem to specifically tell which model to get the calipers off of so I'm stumped.

Thanks!

Try calipers & hoses for a 70-74 B or E body... EIS was a major manufacturer of brake components originally they owned Parker Hannifin which became such a giant company that they eventually sold the parent company EIS to Standard Motor Products...

I like to use the Cordoba caliper, mounted toward the rear with a pair of 15" DOT stainless flex hoses.

What spindles are needed for the swap?

Dr. Diff ... I like the idea of mounting them from the rear - will allow the use of my stock swaybar. Where would I get the hoses you mention - are they an "off the shelf" item?

1 WILD RT ... The '70-74 B/E-body calipers are the one's in Ehrenberg's photo - Thanks!

I'm planning to use the "pin" style calipers.

If you do that, be very careful re: hose routing. Generally, you want the hose to cross the steering axis, which your idea prevents, unless you move the hose frame bracket.

Be sure the hose doesn't rub or go taut, esp. at full L/R lock and full jounce and rebound travel, and all combinations thereof.

A failed hose is not fun.

Rick

I stock a custom DOT stainless flex hose kit for rear mounted calipers. The hoses are coated in clear plastic with whip stops around the ends.

They do not rub if installed correctly.

I'm not aware of a model of the pin type calipers that works properly when rear hung. There is a version of the slider calipers that is designed to be rear hung. The rear hung pin type calipers that I'm aware of all used a hard line to the front of the suspension so the brake hose could cross over in a straight line.

'76 Cordoba pin calipers can be rear hung. The line port is in the same area as a 1980 Volare' slider caliper.

Where would we be if we didn't try new things ...

While the responses here are from reputable sources, I'm inclined to try Dr. Diff's lines IF he states here that they will work on a '69 B-body with the frame mounts in the stock location.

So far the swap has/will be simple enough but having to mess around with the swaybar is more than I want to tackle. My k-member doesn't have the notches for a '70 bar and swapping in a '70 k-member and bar are not expenses I want if a set of specialized brake hoses solves the problem.

Whatdya say Dr. Diff ... your lines do a b-body with the stock bracket locations?

I used the A Body spindels, Cordoba calipers, rotors with the Volare hoses on my 69 SBee- has worked just fine for the last 4 years, 30,000 miles
