I have messed around with a throttle controller, which I believe will be less violent when coming off the delay time. Probably want to shift gears on a timer, get it into high, then let the stop go to work. A high powered motor coming back on in any gear but high could cause trouble.

Can't recall the initials exactly, "BCR"? It is a dual stage controller, which allows one setting for the launch, and one for down track. I found the launch rpm to be a big factor in getting my car to leave with a TF. Wide open off the stop it has too much torque multiplication, at least it did for my car. One other thing, I run a terminter on alky, and found the adjustment being too course. You have to rotate the throttle shaft one full thread to adjust, which is way more than I would like. Some home engineering should come up with a good solution to this issue. If you are going to be serious about "stop" racing, I think that will be very important in getting the exact rpm you need at launch.

Thanks again Greg. Al, I hear you on the glide. If I didn't have a mint in my TF, convertors, shifter and drive shaft I would have a glide in it. I am thinking about a new combo for next year. Maybe a Predetor motor and a glide. But for this year I thought I would try some of the super classes. You look like you are having fun with it. Fred, if I had the $$$$ I would be in a ProMod. That is what I would call racing.

Many higher horsepower .90 racers use timers to both shift and go on the stop at around the same time, usually very early in the run. The combination of when the shift and the stop coming on, in relation to each other, occurs has a big effect on consistency. The same thing could be done with your 3 speed. All you need to do is get it into high gear somehow (timer, RPM). I did this years ago before going to a 2 speed. I was in 2nd and on the stop before 60'. Used a RPM triggered shift light for high. Worked very well then, they are a little touchy about flashing lights in the cockpit these days.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

A friend of mine I haven`t seen in awhile ran Super/Gas with a Small Block Daytona and a 904 and did pretty well but eventually he went to a Glide. I know because I bought one of his 8 inch 904 converters when he switched.
