I read somewhere no "Y" code meant the car was ordered for use by a dealership? That doesn't make sense to me as there is a code for dealer demonstrator. Anyone know the real story on the no "Y" code question?

for 1970 St. Louis broadcast sheets, it appears there are 3 OPTIONS for the "Y1_" SALES BANK SOLD CAR box in the upper right
if no contradictory Y-codes are present in the VEHICLE DELIVERY AND HANDLING section:

"blank" = a car ordered by a dealership for dealer inventory
"4" = Y14 = a car ordered at a dealership by a customer "expedited"
"6" = Y16 = a car spec'd by a Chrysler employee (to keep the plant's assembly lines moving)

Thank you for your help on this

Mine said “expedited” what does that mean? Anything other than ordered by customer?

Interesting. Thank you for the information!

Yes the car was at the dealer for about a year. The car got lucky: The original owner got out of the Navy, returned home to Ames Iowa, bought the car and immediately took it to Norfolk Virginia to start his civilian job working at the Naval Shipyard. Kept the car out of the Iowa snow smile He had the car for from August 1970 to summer of 1990, I acquired it in 1998.

I included a picture of the selling dealer, looks like sometime in 1969 going by the Chargers on the lot. Building still stands, but not a dealer now. I researched the business on the internet and over the phone with Ames Iowa City Hall. The people were so nice and helpful! Sent me faxes with information on the dealership, street address, etc.
