Hello

70 318 with 4 barrel and MP distributor. In the interest of getting this running as well as possible until other engine changes are possible, is there any known tricks for setting the timing. I think I have heard something about using lighter springs or removing one spring? Any info you could point me to, or advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Stock cam just install as is for now. Vacuum advance and plugged to start. Set initial around 10 give or take and total to 32 to 34.
drive around till no ping under any conditions. and carb and idle set to optimum! Then add the vacuum to ported vacuum and if it pings anywhere you will have to use a 3/32 allen wrench in through vac port turning CC a couple turns at a time till all ping under all conditions goes away!
