I have them now but, mine are expired, and if I slow my car too 12.00 I hope I don't need them to save some money

A quick-release, 3-inch shoulder harness meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is
mandatory in all cars in competition required by the rules to have a
roll bar or a roll cage. (Permitted in all other classes.) Driverrestraint
system must be clearly labeled as meeting SFI Spec 16.1
and be dated by manufacturer.

a roll bar is reqired all cars running 11.49 or quicker..
this is per the 2008 nhra rule book.

IF...you run 12.00 with a roll bar in the car....you HAVE TO HAVE CURRENT belts....It's stupid but it's the rule....now if you cut the bar out....ran 12's...and used a 40yo old lap belt you would be legal...but as soon as you weld in a bar you fall under the roll bar guidelines reguardless of ET....ASK ME HOW I KNOW !!!

i have been fighting that one with my window net for years now. i have a cage in the car but is not required due to my ET. the window net expired about ten years ago or something like that.

Is it ribbon or mesh? I think only the mesh style needs to be recerted.

I don't have a book here, but I thought it said "window net required when [ROLLCAGE IS REQUIRED]". The way I read it is you may have a cage, but if you don't run 9s you don't need a net.

Very True, but try explaining that to the tech inspector who "knows everything"

Modified, if you have a ribbon window net they do not expire. Only the mesh nets expire every 2 years. The rules have been rewritten some over the last few years and I believe it's easier to understand now. I bought nets for years until I really read the rules and then questioned NHRA about what they meant Altho it's clearer in the NHRA book it is explicit in the IHRA book.

I wonder...say you mailed $200.00 a month to NHRA during race season,,,MAYBE they would send you a 'card' that you could show to the tech guys at ALL tracks and they would "PASS" you without checking anything? It would be cheaper and NHRA would still get their money...just from the racers instead of the 'safety equipment' manufactures. Just thought...bad idea...the economy is bad enough now, without all the safety manufactures closing down.

If you like drag racing, support your local track.

A ribbon type window net does not expire, unless it is torn or battered.

Last line in the 2010 rule book, general sec page 20.27
