I see that The Paddock is selling a repo. air cleaner base thats looks like the 70-71 340 style. Has anyone ever seen one or bought one? Just wondering on the quality.

I'm working on a nice alternative to fiberglass or way too big holes. I just need to get my new garage set up first, and then bang a few out. I plan on fixing them with a way for people to be able to tell the difference from a real one on close examination, just to keep future ripoff artists from reselling them as real 70-71 340 air cleaners.

I agree however I didn't know original 70-71 style 340 air cleaners have ended up on the unobtainium podium. I've seen a couple decent used ones priced at $100-200 as recently as last year. Maybe hold out for an original?

I bought one this last fall from a fellow moparts member for a touch over $200. not a show peice but what do you expect? I guess if fiberglas was the only option for the time being, I wouldn't mind using one myself

My plan was also to use a snorkel air cleaner and make a 340. I actually had a single snorkel as you'd need to do some metalwork to make it work, but come on there are loads of you who can do some metalwork, this should not have been too difficult. Get two oval holes in the right place (might mean welding up what is there) and then bevel the edge. I was going to make a hardwood former or something. then for about the first time EVER I lucked into a genuine 340 piece for about $40 here in the UK . The lid was shot but I had the spare from the snorkel air cleaner Sweet!
