Hello all,

I'm curious if anyone can tell me if the Distributor from an early 5.9L MPI Magnum would/should drop into an old 360? Thinking of fuel injecting my van next year possibly and thought this might be an easy source for cam position and crank position. Are those sensors in the Magnum Disty? Thanks in advance for any helpful info on this topic!

it would drop in, but it does not have those sensors.
The mpi ones use a crank sensor bolted onto the back of the motor. I think it used the flex plate to see where it was. The guts of the distributer didn't do that.

Not sure on the tbi ones.

if you use a GM TBI or TPI setup, or the aftermarket holley commander 950 system, you don't need a separate crank and cam position sensor, so it should work.

I found an interesting video that they took an MSD distributor and removed all except 1 of the teeth on the reluctor. This was the #1 firing position so it became a cam position signal. Slick Idea, i may have to think about doing when I go Fuel Injection. I'm most likely going SMFI, so TBI is not in the cards though it would be easier, I want the total tunability that you can get the SMFI. Also found a bolt on 36-1 crank trigger wheel universal you can buy and adapt to the crank in front, just requires a little creative fab work and spacers, etc. Thanks for the help guys!
