Suggestions for specific single turbo 5.7 and 6.1 liters would be appreciated.
15 PSI tops, blow through applications. Please no high dollar units ceramic unobtanium bearings with hyper convoluted transgential compressors...blah, blah blah,
Just street use with either AtoA or meth aftercooling please.
Thanks
Curt

Oh yeah...THAT'S gonna leave a mark!

I would not go less than a T76 and would look more in the gt47-88 range.

8psi is all the stock pistons and ring lands can handle under boost and thats even pushing it. Most run a T60 on a stock block.

If you want to up the boost, you'll need forged pistons at the minimum.

Yes thank you. I am looking at baby steps. Install stock used complete engine. Make sure there are no drivetrain vibrations, overheating, ignition, fueling issues at maybe 4psi. Build another shortblock with a stock 6.1 crank, K1 rods and decent (diamond, CP) pistons. Then see max of approx 14 to 15 PSI boost. I sure do think an 88 MM turbo is way too big for this...but I have been wrong before.
Thanks
Curt

how are you only saying 8psi...that would be based on tune and if an intercooler, meth, or race gas is used....and the size doesnt matter...t-60 are you refering to a 60mm??? thats kinda of small on a 350cube engine

theres a alot of factors that go into how much boost you are goin to run on that motor and that small turbo even with a bigger exh housing i think is going to cause some backpressure issues and make the air inlet temps hot

top ring land on new hemi pistons is at the very top (not much material). power adders have to be conservative with boost or juice otherswise you are on borrowed time on the new hemis. it will lift the ring land up and off...

i think that is why only 8 psi...

Yup, The top ring land is only down 3mm from the top of the stock piston, plus the stock top ring end gap only has between .009"- .011" from what I've seen in all the engines I've torn down to be rebuilt.

The stock pistons will last until the 500-550 crank HP mark then it's game over. In my case with a bone stone 5.7 that was 9 psi with water/meth. The powdered rods will fail shortly thereafter. A good cheaper turbo would be a Master Power T76 with a larger exhaust housing (ie .96)
