OK, mid 74 Dart. Go to buy Rear drum brakes for this. Only ones listed are 2 1/2 x 10's.
NOPE they don't fit. For giggles they look at '73 they list 1.75 x 10's NOPE don't fit.
I grab the drum and look close.
11 x 2's What the heck? How did I end up with backplates for a 1/2 ton Dodge truck?
I am the third owner. Original owner was a older woman..never made any Mods. The second owner, A young kid who had no mechanical savvy and then my son just bought it. Is it possible that the factory did this? It screwed up my day.. I was hoping to be done with the brakes by 9:00 this morning. the car is still on Jackstands with hopes they can get Shoes for it tomorrow.

A little more searching on Brake parts reveal that even the 1/2 (W100 series) has standard Drums where as the dart has the Finned ones.
It looks like this dart I have has the Rear Drum Brake setup for the '74 Dodge Monaco. Both Shoes and the big Finned Drums on that year Monaco are what I have on the Dart.
Maybe the Production line was low on Stock Backplates and grabbed from another production line???

I ran the tag a while back, I have that Info at Work.
It didn't list anything like Tow package of Cop/Taxi options.
And the axle is 'Open'.

these cars are old and sometimes have many owners. even grandma can get a rear end swap from the local mechanic and either not know or remember.
with that age and not being the original owner, you never know...
Good luck!

I remember my dad selling his 66 charger on ebay a few years back.
Guy came from the usa to get it. As far as we knew we were the 3rd owners of the car. this guy was at least number 4.
I've seen the car on ebay 3 times since then. Even the first time, it wasn't the guy who bought it from us, and I emailed the seller, and he didn't even get it from the guy who bought from us.
The last time I saw it, it was written up as a 3 owner car
3 to us, plus one when we sold it, then 1 more to the guy before the first ebay, then the first ebay, plus 2 more ebayers. At least 8, ASSUMING we were actually the third owners, and that the last 2 ebay buyers listed the car directly, and no other transactions were made in between
