Hey guys I'm building a street strip 440 and I've run into a bit of a snag. My plan was to use Crane 1.6 iron rockers, but for obvious reasons I can no longer get them. So my question is' are their any affordable and reliable rockers out there?

Crane is back in business with a full product line.

Lots of rocker arm choices out there. Are you just not aware of them or do you not like any of the choices and want something different?

I'm just not big on the aluminum stuff. I want it to last. I want to know what you guys have had good experiences with. I'm runing a mild solid and I just need something simple and durable. And I checked the crane cams site, they were bought out by s&s motorcycles and are only producing bike parts and ignition components.

Nothing wrong with aluminum rockers. All high end rockers are aluminum, and take the abuse of well over a thousand lbs or pressure fully open.
Saying this not all rockers are made equal.
A street and strip 440 however doesn't need a set of $1000 rockers IMO.
Try to pick a part based on your package that will do they job cost the less, without a compromise in durability is my philosophy. But try to think about future upgrades. It doesnt save you money when two years from now you decide to run a stout flat tappet, or even a solid roller. I set of the Ductile rockers like crane and isky is fine for even a moderate sized flat tappet. Make sure you run these bushed rockers with a chrome hard rocker shaft..Id look at mancini racing for those.
For a entry level aluminum rocker I would look at the Hughes rockers, or a set of the Indy (Dove) Rockers. Those Dove rockers are pretty well priced and some have luck running a solid roller with them.
They are easy to find as take off's, when people upgrade. They are in the Race parts for sale section about every month. and usually in the $250-$400 range depending on shape and extra's.
Then the Higher end stuff..usually in the $1k and up range..
is the Harland Sharp's, these are a nice rocker arm will fit the bill for about any thing you want to run.

RAS, Comp, Isky, Crane, PRW all have steel rocker arms. Isky and Crane you might have to find used. There might be some other choices out there that I don't recall at the moment.

I'll get ripped for this, but what the hey.....
A few years ago I bought a set of ProComp Electronics Steel Rockers. Roller tips, they came with hardened shafts, rocker bodies have bronze bushings, adjuster studs have oiling provisions. They've performed well for me, and were downright cheap. For a high rate roller cam, I'd spend more, but for a street / strip effort with 350 lb's of open pressure or less, I'd buy another set.

My buddy had these Isky's that I used on my mild 440. You may get lucky and find a good used set if you shop around. Ron
