building a 318 to boost and was thinkin: has anyone used the poly 318 head in a boosted app? i planned on useing magnum heads on this motor. would the poly head flow as good? only reason im considering the poly is just to be weird. lol. as if having a boosted 90" a100 isnt weird enough. any thoughts?

putting boost to weird things is cool I don't think I'll ever put a turbo on my Super Hurricane Flat Head Six but it would be cool to see someone do it.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread, as I've been wanting to boost my Poly for awhile now...I have a spare engine sitting in my garage that I can mock everything up on, I just need to start buying! There was somebody here awhile ago that mentioned they had put twin turbos on a Poly, but I can't remember who it was...maybe he will turn up.

Don't the poly heads flow a lot worse than the magnum heads? You would just be leaving performance on the table by doing that.

The attached image is the only data I have on Poly head flow...which isn't a lot!

Also, here is some stock magnum head flow data that I found:

.100"--67.3/N/A
.200"--131.3/97.3
.300"--185.6/132.5
.400"--212.5/144.9
.450"--213.9/146.3
.500"--212.2/146.3

so the poly has better port velocity. isnt that the name of the game with a boosted engine? i know flow has some to do with things but isnt a high velocity head better? use larger valves, 1.925 or 2.02s. maybe someone has a cnc program for a poly head? lol i doubt it. maybe send a pair to ryanj and see what he can do with them. there isnt going to be alott of lift, under .600" and the magnum heads seem to stall between .500-.575". "poly heads retain good port velocity to make power with lower rpms"

is the velocity idea wrong?
