I recently changed the cam in my Challenger. Went with a higher lift, less duration cam. I installed recommended springs and new lifters. Car was running good up to 3000 RPM. After that it seems like it was running out of gas. After removing the air cleaner I see that it is blowing gas out of the carb. I have checked fuel system. I have done compression test. I have readjusted the rockers. What am I missing? Can anyone help me with this problem.

I doubt this will help you, but I had a simillar problem with a customers T/A. When it would lay down it would spit gas out of the end carbs but not the center on the six pak. I went through the carbs and found some one had monkeyed with the secondary springs. I put the right springs in it and it got a little better. I then found out that some one put a cam with a power range to only 4000, the excact rpm it layed down. The customer wants to change the cam over the winter to something more aggressive.

Maybe the problem lies in the less duration?

Every "blowback through carb" issue I've ever had was ignition timing related, one way or another (either distributor-based or timing chain off somehow.)

My worthless

Thanks Guys I am going to take it back apart today and check the cam timing. I am sure that I got it right, but anything is possible. Thanks again!!
